World Mountaineering Championship 2013, rock class

Eurasian Mountaineering and Climbing Association, Mountaineering and Climbing Federation of Ukraine under the patronage of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine hold rock class of World Mountaineering Championship.
Competitions will be held from September 29th till October 8th, 2013 in the Crimea, rock massifs near the towns of Yalta, Foros.Teams of National Mountaineering Federations or Mountaineering Clubs are invited to take part in the international competitions. Two male teams and one female team – roped party (two people) from each country are admitted, the event is separate for men and women.

The Program of the World Championship consists of two stages:
1.    Mountaineering technique competition – roped parties pass the route on a rock of 60 m by turns with time record;
2.    During four days climbing four (three – for women) rock massifs along the routes up to 400 m with areas of the V – VII, A1 – A3 difficulty grades, according to the given rating.

The participation of 25 male and 15 female teams from CIS, Baltic, Caucasian republics and other countries of Europe, Asia, America is planned.
Similar competitions were held in October, 2012. Nine male and six female teams from Ukraine, Russia, Moldova, Latvia and Georgia took part in them. Information concerning the result of these competitions can be found on the above mentioned site.

Convenient geographic location of the Crimea in the centre of Euro-Asian continent, unique climatic conditions of the South Coast of the Crimea, where there are a lot of rock massifs admissible for all-year-round mountaineering will make it possible to attract a large number of participants to taking part in the World Championship.

The World Championship will be broadly covered by press, TV and mountaineering Internet-resources of the member countries. Life broadcasting from particular stages of the competitions will be arranged.

The winners and prizewinners will be awarded with diplomas and medals of World Champions. The prize fund of $25000 is instituted.
